Choosing to devote a portion of your free time to support a cause that is near and dear to your heart is a selfless act and a statement about who you are and what you believe in. Ohio Pet Charities is looking for people with a passion for animals to help us in a variety of ways this year.

These OPC Volunteers attended a working Board Retreat at Columbus Humane on January 31st – where we saw first-hand all the great facilities and work being done by the dedicated staff there.

Event Management OPC Volunteers

At each of the events listed above, we bring together Veterinary professionals and representatives from dozens of pet rescue organizations in Central Ohio, to speak with attendees about pet adoptions and pet care. Plus, there are always some unique pet-oriented business and vendors on hand, along with festive music, food trucks, activities, giveaways and lots of swag and we need volunteers to help.

If you’d like to help with Event Management at any of our events this year, please sign up on our Volunteers form here.

Are you more of a “behind the scenes” person with other special talents you’d like to share? Consider volunteering for these important roles:

Social Media and Blog Writers

Each year, OPC hosts great events which need post-event recaps written and posted on our website. If you’d like to help, please contact: Matt Chimento at chimento@ohiopetcharities.org

Fundraising Volunteers

Every non-profit organization is dependent upon the kindness of partners, sponsors and donors at every level. If you would like to help with our fundraising efforts, please contact Fundraising Coordinator, Tim Brooks at timbrooks@ohiopetcharities.org

Volunteer Profile: Elizabeth McClain

Elizabeth McClain headshot

Elizabeth McClain has been a volunteer with Ohio Pet Charities since 2017 and currently serves as President of its’ Board of Directors. Elizabeth says that she loves animals because they bring endless joy and silliness to our lives. At present, her household is home to five dogs and two cats. She decided to volunteer her spare time to OPC because she believes in giving back to her community. After working with another nonprofit pet rescue, Canine Collective, Elizabeth realized that this is an area where her passion found a place to make things better. Her favorite thing about Ohio Pet Charities is seeing how many people and pets are affected in good and positive ways. OPC is unique in its’ ability to bring so many groups together to make the ripple of good larger.

She currently lives in Dublin with her husband Matt, also a dedicated OPC volunteer. Together, they have three grown sons. She earned her B.S. in Business Administration from Western Governor’s University. She is a project manager with AEP and was recently elected to serve on the Dublin Schools Board of Education.
